Adele

Hey there! I'm Adele, vigorous doll artist who never stops exploring. I'm inviting you to join me on this journey of discovering a fascinating world of ball-jointed dolls. After building up my courage to try and work with porcelain, I finally present you what has been in the making for years - fully poseable ball-jointed dolls.

I've been creating dolls since 2013. Thereafter I've been learning about all of the different types of dolls that exist. Articulated porcelain dolls just spoke to me! The marvellous ancient material and modern design complement each other perfectly. I've started working on my first porcelain doll since late 2016 and now I welcome you to see where this endeavour will take me!

WHAT YOU’LL LEARN?

Make plaster molds for every part of the doll

In this course, I'm going to walk you through the process of making plaster molds for each part of the ball-jointed doll.

Work with plasticine and plaster

We're going to learn about materials, techniques and all the challenges that may occur. After this course, you'll be fully equipped to cast your own porcelain dolls!

All necessary steps to prepare for casting dolls

Plaster, when it's set, is very porous. It draws moisture from liquid porcelain slip, and that's how porcelain hardens in the mold. You can use plaster molds with air-drying casting slips like "Flumo" or "Li-Qua-Che" as well.

Frequently Asked Questions

IS THE CLASS HAPPENING LIVE?
No, all the information and videos are pre-recorded so you could learn at your own pace. We all have such different schedules! The ability to work on your BJD when you have time seemed like the best decision to me.
CAN I USE PLASTER MOLDS TO CAST RESIN DOLLS?
Unfortunately, no. For resin dolls, you need to make silicone molds. The technology behind plaster and silicone molds is very different, so the techniques I'm teaching in this course mostly can't be adapted to silicone mold making. You can use these molds with porcelain slip as well as self-hardening air-dry casting slips that don't require a kiln. For example Flumo or Li-Qua-Che.
HOW LONG DO I HAVE ACCESS TO THE COURSE?
How does lifetime access sound? After enrolling, you have unlimited access to this course for as long as you like - across any and all devices you own.
CAN YOU EXPLAIN THE STRUCTURE OF THE CLASS?
The class is based on step-by-step instructions with a few hundred pictures, technical lessons and videos that will show you the process up close.
